Visualizing Student Research though a Multi-Conditional Branching “Choose Your Own Adventure”-Style Tutorial

چکیده

Flipped classrooms, asynchronous learning, gamification, and multimodality are familiar concepts in education, and Choose Your Own Adventure-style instruction brings together these ideas by allowing the student to direct their own path through more traditional learning materials. But while nonlinear structure offers significant opportunities to reinforce learning objectives, model behavior, and increase student engagement, developing and assessing this content poses some significant challenges. In this paper, I explore the use of established visualization idioms and visual analytics tools to produce a conventional dashboard layout that will aid analysis of student behavior through Choose Your Own Adventure-style instructional materials.
